Part [D] '08 - Elites for life

The time now is 12:09am.
The date is 11 July 2008.

ORD - Official Retirement Day.
Listening to "all good things come to an end" from junkai's blog now.
Thinking of the past 3.5 years.

Part A 2005.
41 people.
I was from 1k(OK OK I CHANGED IT ALREADY!!), together with Wei Long, Bertram and Winston.
Remember those days, we weren't really close, perhaps we were closer to our classmates than platoon mates.
Those were the days where "NCC is just a CCA".
Where no one really saw a point of doing drills, no one really saw what NCC is about.
At that time, i just come for every friday training and wanted to do well because it is my CCA.
No one really knew who was in the part, who was from which class, who had what name.
I remember my section in Part A, Section 3.
Aaron Tan, Winston Ng, Lim Wei Jing, Gerald Har, Lai Yit Khai,
Jaron Chui, Lim Jun An and 2 other people that are not in our part anymore
Section NCOs: Lian Joo and Marvyn (probably the best 2 NCOs a section can get)
There was once when Yit Khai dropped his beret.
Marvyn said, "Sorry, you dropped beret, i have no choice but to knock you, knock it down, carry on one."
This kind of NCOs where to find?
In camp, I was in the same section as Zhi Yi, Yu Han, Wei Jing, Alfred, Junkai, and some other people.
I was COS for the third day, and incidently the slackest day, because interviews were held on third night and therefore i missed bunk check as the COS and went for interview.
I remember i had my first interview during this camp, for best cadet.
They came in, the first question asked was: Do you think you are the best cadet?
Weijing went in, and he answered no. The ncos told him to leave the room.
I answered a yes, at that time i didnt know there were awards, and so they bombarded me with questions that seemed impossible for me to answer at that time. It was not a good experience but it is still a memorable time.
Then it was down to Wei Long, Me and Hong Run for the BC award.
Hong Run got it, because he was more composed and answered more naturally.
I dont know how Hong Run did it, it seemed impossible to stay composed in that situation i was put in at that time of my ncc career.
Winston won the MI, during his interview, he was asked to sing a song, so he did.
You yi ge, mei li de xiao nu hai, ta de ming zi, jiao zuo xiao wei...
brave wor.
Thats about all i can think of now for Part A.
For us, in Part A, i dont know if its the NCOs slack or we slack, but i dont think the NCOs know every of our name.

Part B 2006
The best time of my NCC Life (draw with NCOship)
This was the time when our part start to create bonds, start to be a part, start to realise that the whole part is make of individuals but the individuals achieve the same things together. We aim for the same goals, we are a part not apart. This is no doubt the most hiong period of my NCC life.
There was a tekan session. Our one and only experience of a tekan session.
Be it 60 secs from old logroom to mscp and 60 secs back.
Then changing parade to PT Kit, late pump for lateness, change again, to No4. then pump for lateness again.
Run to TKK Statue, touch and come back. 60 secs.
then Run Driveway in Long 4 with Zhiyi shouting behind us.
Looking around us, 6 people left.
rest of the part reported sick.
Bertram Ferris Junkai Hongrun Weijing and me.
The rest of the part was under the clock tower.
That training, i will never forget, how we ran to SOC to do pullups and run back.
How we would walk in the shade and run in the sun. (if i did not remember wrongly)
Then soon after, I became the last OIC under Zhiyi's batch for my part.
Alfred was the 2ic.
part goals: 4 pull ups by camp. whole part 2.4 under 13 mins. all cross the wall
PT Dreams.
10 rounds driveway in 1hr 45mins
300 pushups
5mins leg raise
300 squats
All cross wall in less than 4mins.
We only managed the 5 mins leg raise and crossing the wall i think.
Then we got screwed. me and alfred.
On the night before Bio Module exam in sec 2. I will never forget.
How terrorising it was to be in one room with zhiyi.
slamming the door or facing the floor.
we almost needed to do 500 pushups str8.
but that night was crazy, it made me realise how little i had done for the part. how much effort did i put in? how much effort did the part put in?
The next day exam, 24/50 fail.
thats why i dont take bio. =) never regretted that decision tho
Then soon it was ORD, spent the last few trainings doing our PT Dreams,
even though we dint manage to complete all of them.. i would like to thank everyone in my part. good job guys, all the time we have been thru together, lets stay together. =D
ORD came, gorilla soft toy given.
Ren3 notebook still with winston i hope.. 2 years overdue.. =X
Thats all i can think of for Part B, not including the events such as NDP and Shooting.

Part C 2007
Revolution began around this time.
Our part spirit began to go down..
more and more conflicts surfacing..
the problem of niaoing was prevalent..
people start taking sides..
i stil remember that thrashing out session that we had.
our 1st and our last. people got emotional and it was inevitable..
but in the end we still manage to come to a compromise and made some agreements..
after that, our part spirit wasnt as strong as before, but then something united us once again.
i admit that during that time we were immature and therefore we have this thinking, of a common enemy.. and that brought us together and is it a blessing in disguise?
NDP Success.
OC Success.
Those were the days.. when we were so high.. yea.. in fact it's already more than a year ago already..
As we draw closer towards our NCOship,
we started to get excited, everyone was excited but few voiced their opinions, i didnt.
in fact, after RSAF 07, khangwen surprised us with the posting stuff, and then we were all just basing our judgement on the person. i cant really remember wad i wrote though. haha..

6th July - Last year's ORD.
So fast, one year and 5 days have gone.
But during this one year.
I have experienced something that not everyone can experience.
Something that i will remember and cherish for the rest of my life.
at the start of NCOship,
I chose a path that was condemn by all batches of NCOs,
a path that changed the NCO-cadet relationship now.
I dont know if i made a right decision, but i do not regret making that choice.
I have watch my part grow. from Part B 07 to Part C 08 to NCOs-to-be to NCOs 08-09.
I would like to thank you guys. Without you guys, seriously, i have no motivation to come for any training. You guys have played a huge part in my life. Everything that I have done, none i regret.

PDS:
NCC Day to Hillary challenge to NDP to Teachers' day
to orientation 08 to CNY to AC to CSM to RSAF to SYF
10 performances in my term of NCOship.
I want to thank every single person involved in the performances.
Part Bs - you guys have improved a lot from when you just started PDS.
Remember, PDS is something that is easy to be passionate about.
it is something that brings the part together, not segregate the part.
it is something that i love, and i hope you would too =D
Basic drills > Advanced drills.

Part Cs - i have done my best as PDS Head, i have tried my best to make everyone feel included. Sorry if i ever made you feel left out, it is definitely not on purpose..
For affirmation - it was really emotional for me, my last PDS performance, and coincidentally i started off my first pds performance at affirmation as well.
That experience was really really great, being on the stage beside the performers, the feeling is just indescribable.
I remember that there was a march in just for the non adv and a march out just for the advanced. it was done to let everyone be equal, i do not want anyone to think that adv have privileges and that they deserve more than others. no PDS is never about individual, never about segments, it is about the whole performance, everyone single person involved.
There is only team success, no individual success in PDS. I strongly believe that.
Thats all i have to say for pds i guess..

To my beloved Part C training team - i shall give the comments next time =D.

I shall go make my uniform.
exactly 12hours from school end and we wait for the parade.
